I found a group of people who like it here in Duncan on Facebook that reflects the intent of this website. I wanted to let more people know they exist. These are just short clips from their ‘Positively Duncan’ group page, with links into Facebook for more.
From local business reviews to savoured memories, no telling what you’ll find.
Legal question: Can a county assessor go thru a locked gate with posted no trespassing signs , without owners consent? They lifted the gate while it was locked and entered without permission of property owner , is this legal? ... See MoreSee Less
Shelly KautzmanWe have signs posted and we have locks on the gates and they lifted our South Gate and entered the property and when I went and confronted them, they said we work for the Stephens county assessors office we can go on any property in Oklahoma by state law ! So ya the signs and the lock wasn't enough! Then the guy said "you might wanna consider getting a bike chain because I got thru the locked gate by lifting it"!!!! Like wtf???? I guess when you work for the county privacy don't mean crap!7 hours ago · 1
Shelly KautzmanI don't want to press charges but geez how am I supposed to protect my property if we have county workers breaking into our yard ?????7 hours ago
Shelly KautzmanWe put the signs up and the locks on when we installed our pool so kids wouldn't enter the yard and mess with the pool but apparently it's easy to just break in lol6 hours ago
Glenda Pettijohn-AshCall the Oklahoma Tax Commission and file a complaint. This has also happened to my property. Than call the County Commissioner's. The more people who turn them in will help. I have nothing to hide. Like I told them just call and I will let you in. But we have had a lot of things stolen. I would hate for someone to get hurt.6 hours ago
Holly Manning TecumsehYes they have 100% right to enter onto any property in the county. No trespassing signs don't apply to them. If they can't enter into property on their own then they have to knock on doors to gain entry into the property. You can't keep them off.51 minutes ago · 1
Jennifer FergusonThe laws posted above do not apply in Oklahoma. The County Assessors Office has the right to go on yoir property for reappraisal purposes according to statutes covered by Title 69 in Oklahoma. Unlike the sheriff, they do not have to have permission or a search warrant. You can call whomever you like, but the commissioners or Oklahoma Tax Commission have no say. The Assessor is an elected official just like the commissioner and the OTC, only governs there appraisal standards. Assessors being on your property isn't a new practice, happens once every 4 years, for the last 25 years that I know of and will continue. This is how are schools are funded, 90% goes to schools, votech and health department.33 minutes ago
Rick CouchLegal or not legal they should not be forcing themselves through locked gates!! Make a phone call knock on a door have some flippin respect for people. This isn't about the right to do something this right here is about respect and why people have a lack of respect for government employees. #youdontowntheworld8 minutes ago

Clifford McGhghyNo, you are only in one. I dont think you can be in more than one. you might live in one area and be in another school district. You can transfer from district to district but when they fill up they are full. Call the school office and talk to them8 hours ago · 1
