I ride my bike 1-2 hours just about every day. What I experience out there on these rides displays both views that can be found on this board. Duncan is a nice town filled with friendly people. Duncan is a hole filled with jerks. I get to choose where I ride and opt for places where the odds are highest to avoid jerks.
My first job working in an office offered a curious lesson the very first morning.
My mentor was a 70 something man with permanent smile who seemed amused that I had made it into the office but he obeyed orders and did his best to show me the ropes.
To get started, he introduced me to Margie, who served all the men in that office as their gopher, secretary, whatever was needed. So my first morning, he insisted, “Tell Margie to fetch you some coffee.”
In the beginning, this website was built with numerous features for people to express what they like about Duncan. The laughter and obtuse comments to come of that plan surprised me a bit with some suggesting that perhaps I should start a section on what you don’t like.
I had to finally admit that I am biased on this subject. My rosy glasses are rather thick and I came here at first from a rather stressful situation. This was my weekend get-away to find some peace.
This past couple weeks have brought back some fun memories for me. I’ve been working in the public again. In this case, seeing a new face in front of me about every 60 seconds for 4-5 hours straight while I scanned and bagged their groceries. It makes the average person laugh to learn how much I care when it comes to serving others, but what the hell, I like making people laugh too and I’m not the only one like this.
